Assuming the cores are in good condition, they will last as long as a new brush would. Used metal, especially when fatigued, is susceptible to mechanical failure during use. Sweeper brushes are made by welding ends of a coiled steel channel with plastic bristles anchored inside the steel channel. In this method, when the channel is rolled into the broom, it holes the bristles and itself in place.
